01
Find the unit that limits your task
A plan may limit credits, GPU time, media hours, video duration, downloads or requests. These units are not interchangeable between vendors. Even within one product, different models and features can consume different amounts.
Write down every allowance your workflow needs. Generating a song and downloading it, for example, are separate limits in Suno's current plans.
02
Check when the allowance arrives
An annual bill does not establish an annual credit pool. Some products replenish credits monthly; others allocate the year's allowance upfront. Pictory explicitly describes upfront annual credits, while ElevenLabs documents monthly allocation for its self-serve subscriptions.
A one-time free allowance is another case. Note the refill schedule and any expiration or rollover conditions separately from the billing interval.
03
Estimate attempts, not only final outputs
Plan for revisions and discarded outputs. A generation may spend credits even when you do not keep it. Avoid a fixed cost-per-video calculation unless the provider documents the conversion for the exact model, duration and settings.
Use a small representative test to observe your own consumption. Do not transfer one vendor's credit value to another vendor or treat advertised maximum output counts as guarantees.
04
Understand the stopping rule
Before enabling paid usage, check whether reaching a limit blocks work, slows generation, requires a manual top-up or triggers additional charges. Confirm whether you can set a spend cap.
A cheap subscription can become costly if your required workflow depends on frequent extras. The catalog's subscription price is not a prediction of your total usage bill.
